Pets and Mounts
For the purposes of this wiki page, we will be using the term "Pets" as a general term to include Mounts.
Mounts will be specified where appropriate as they have additional features and limitations that other Pets do not.
Release Date
Pets were added back in February 2023 and Pet Armor's were added in March of 2023.
There is a plan to release additional Pets in future updates once Northlands has been released.
What Are Pets?
Pets are a companion you can summon from your Inventory using the Horse Head icon found in the bottom left.
Pets can only be summoned while outside and only One Pet can be summoned at a time. (You cannot Mount one Pet and have another out.)
Pets can join you inside dungeons and can be used as a replacement for another player in situations in which buttons need to be pressed.
Some Pets are considered Mounts and can be ridden. Please Note: Mounts CANNOT go indoors.
At this time, you can only heal Pets using Healing Spells (Enchanting Skill).
As of right now, Pet Death is Permanent. Please ensure you keep your pet well healed as replacement is expensive!
It is important to note that the Lesser Heal spell located in Shroom Town, sold by Mycena does not require any Enchanting to use and is a perfect complement to your arsenal when using Pets.
Leveling A Pet
Pets are VERY weak, and it is your job to nurture them and help them grow.
It is suggested to level your Pets at the Ettins, south of Aria until at least level 20.
After level 20 your Pet is capable of fighting Bandits and Goblins, though you should still watch the HP of your Pet!
Pet Skills
Pet skill growth is limited to 11 levels above the requirement on the pet before it is Mastered.
This means that the Cat/Horse will level you to 11 skill (from 0), allowing you to use the level 5 Boar and cap at 16, which is the current cap prior to Northlands release.
Two Skills are related to Pets.
Taming - The ability to give your Pet commands, and have them listen to you.
Riding - The ability to Mount your Pet and travel while outdoors.
To level your Taming it is suggested to go to your Keys Setup and set a key for "move pet". By giving the Pet commands it will then level it's skill.
To level your Riding, just Mount your Pet and ride all around Yore. Every Tile you walk over is a skill up, so even running in circles or following another player will count!
