Gold is the main currency used in Tales of Yore to purchase items from shops and while trading with other players.

Mechanics of Gold

The maximum amount of gold players can actively hold is 6 million gold or Players can hold a total of 6 million gold in their bank instead.

Any gold obtained above 6 million will be lost. You can create alts and trade to them to store additional gold.

There is also a daily soft limit of 100k gold that players can gain.

This value is re-calculated per minute when the limit is below 50k, up to an allowance of 50k per hour.

Players can check the gold allowance by checking the debug information (/Debug) or by pressing the F2 key.

Players in a party will have the gold from kills equally split so long as players are near to each other.

Sources of Gold

Killing Monsters

This is the most common way to gain gold as most enemies drop gold when slayed. Finding maps where enemies have a high spawn rate is recommended.

Selling Items

The second common way to gain gold is to sell loot gained from slaying enemies or spare equipment you no longer need.

However, it should be noted that buying items to resell them is not a viable way to gain gold as sold items are valued at 60% of the original value.

Ways to lose Gold

Death

On death, players lose all gold not deposited in the bank. Players also lose unprotected items which may include loot and unequipped items.

Server Boost

There are bonuses available to Exp and Gold at 2% per 50,000 Gold added totaling 20% at 500,000 Gold. Since there are two separate bonuses you will need a combined total of 1 Million Gold to boost both.
